AMORANTO SPORTS COMPLEX - First years and second years face off in the court to seek for their first win after their previous losses in their respective basketball games – the first years against the third years and the second years against the CiFaSt Alumni.
Basketball
Second years showcased their basketball competency as they took the lead in the first quarter and continuously maintained their lead until second quarter and third quarter.
In unexpected turn of events, first years’ unstoppable drive to catch up in the game allowed them to narrow the difference between the scores during the fourth quarter.
However, the second years managed to keep their poise and return their lead and finally finished off the game with the final score of 51-36 in favor of the second years, allowing them to bring home their first win.
Volleyball
Meanwhile the second year volleyball team is not as fortunate as they took a disappointing loss against a well-rounded third year volleyball team.
Francis Villangca of the second years took the first score of the game for the second years.
A series of exchanges between the two teams made this a heated battle up to the end of the first set, with a final score of 22-25, favoring the third years.
However, Batch 2017 clamped down onto their defense as the error-prone second year squad succumbed to a big lead in the second set.
Batch 2018 made a brief rally, but it fell short of forcing a rubber match 3rd set as they finally succumbed with a score of 20 – 25, giving the third year volleyball team their first win in this year’s Sportsfest. [x]
