Lucky for those who exercised their vocal cords and remembered their favorite hit songs as the 2013 Game of Houses, organized by Internal PRO Ann Frances Rodrigues and 2nd year Internal Batch Representative Armand Joseph De Castro, kicked off with a singing game that was sure to test their music know-how.
Fashioned from Pitch Perfect’s Riff-Off, the participants had to sing a song that began with the word drawn by 1st year Internal Batch Representative Ea Tan. The word could either be in Filipino or English. To earn a point, “Optimists” from the four Houses had to rack their brains for songs to match the word.
Seems easy enough? Not really.
The tricky part was getting the microphone from the hands of 3rd year Batch Representative Timmons Cruz in the middle of the room. Representatives had to be really quick in grabbing the microphone for their respective Houses which involved a lot of shoving and pushing. Who knew that students of St. Luke’s College of Medicine were so competitive?
As the Houses garnered points, members cheered for their own teams and taunted their opponents. It was all in good fun though, as the audience was delighted to hear songs ranging from Salbakuta’s Stupid Love to the classic pop song Smooth Criminal and even the nursery rhyme Rain, Rain, Go Away.
Mi2chondria (House 2) drew first blood with a convincing lead of eight points over their opponents. Invictus (House 4) put up a respectable 6 points while Eximius (House 1) and House Life (House 3) each had two points. Everyone ended up enjoying the event, building camaraderie and teamwork among the house members.
Come next tournament, which division will be next to defend their House? Rest assured though that Eximius, Mi2chondria, House Life, and Invictus will come prepared. [x]
