The competition is still just as fierce on the 4th day of the SLCM Sportsfest. The Lukan spirit was soaring high at Trinity High School gymnasium where today’s two exciting games were held.
Basketball: 3rd years vs. 2nd years
Despite their hot start and impressive effort, the second years are defeated by the third years at 36-26.
Starting for the third years were Ongkeko, Silva, Aragones, Cordova and Reyes. The first five for the second years were Favorito, Cuarte, Valencia, Surio and Yarra.
The sophomores dictated the game in the first half, leading the score at 9-8 and 17-15 in the 1st first and second quarter. The 3rd years turned the tables on them in the 3rd and 4th quarters, outscoring the 2nd years 22-29 in the 3rd quarter. They finish strong with a ten-point lead in the 4th quarter.
The third years were led by Aragones who scored an outstanding 14 points. This was followed by Reyes (6), Celera (6), Cordova (2), Dado (2), Ongkeko (2), Joaquin (2) and Silva (2). For the second years, Favorito also delivered an impressive 14 points. Other scorers were Yarra (4), Cuarte (3), Surio (2), Villanca (2) Surio (2) and Agbon (1).
Volleyball: 3rd year vs 1st year
The 3rd years continued their winning streak with triumphing over the first years in the next volleyball game.
The first set was dominated by the juniors, 25-19. The first years made a comeback in the second set, dishing out a six-point lead at 19-25. This was not enough to faze the third years as they made a fiery comeback of their own, claiming the third set and sealing their victory with a 12 point lead at 15-3.
Villanca walloped the freshmen with 9 points; other scorers were Vargas (5), Kwan (3), Tevez (2) and Rivera (1). The third years had a total of 17 errors. For the freshmen, the top scorer was Visaya with 10 points, with contributions from Solano (6), Agregado (6), Wong (3), Camacho (3) Cayetano (1), and Dayao (1). They had 38 total errors in the match.
