More than 200 medical students grilled barbeques, played games and cheered with their houses in Griglia de Notte last August 12, 2015 at the 4th floor parking lot, St. Luke’s College of Medicine (SLCM) William Quasha Building.
One hundred first-year medical students were sorted into five different houses: Helios (yellow team), Eir (orange team), Brigid (red team), Bao Sheng Dadi (blue team) and Fufluns (green team).
Jayvee Rivera, Internal Vice President, and Lorenz Villegas, Internals PRO, along with the other officers of the Internals Team of the Student Council planned the House Sorting and official opening of House Games 2015 with the theme “Divergent.”
Griglia de Notte 2015 was the second “BBQ” event ever held to promote camaraderie among the medical students of SLCM.
The first Griglia de Notte was held last year in Horeb Court and, like this current year, was the first house activity that marked the start of the House Tournament.
According to Student Council President, Henson Turalde, and Jayvee Rivera, the concept of a “grill night” acquaintance party was conceived by the Student Council members during the term of former Student Council President Arjo de Castro during a team building activity in Tagaytay two years ago.
The goal was to bring the student body closer together before the Sportsfest and Mr. and Ms. Lukan events.
Michi Austria and Rjay Agbon of Batch 2019 hosted, facilitated, and officially declared the opening of the House Games 2015.
Holijah Uy, Externals Team first year representative, led the opening prayer. Pork barbeques, kamote-ques, and hotdogs were then served for dinner.
College dean, Dean Brigido Carandang, Jr., and college secretary, Dr. Joanne De Ramos, along with other administrators and staff conversed and ate with the students during the event.
Games such as a modified version of ‘Trip to Jerusalem’ followed dinner. After the games, the hosts introduced each of the houses.
The students were given instructions to line up with 10 people moving to the front at a time. Each student was then asked to place his or her hands behind him or her. A glow stick was then handed to each student. The color of the stick received would determine which house the student would be assigned to.
More games were held afterwards while some of the students made S’mores in the grilling area.
The night ended with students taking pictures and mingling with their peers. [x]
