[PENTHOUSE LOBBY, SLCM] - Batch 2019 heats up in the third part of their orientation, FOP III: Stop, Lukan, Listen, held at the SLCM Penthouse Lobby last June 6 as everyone tries to know more about the other 123 students who will be in the same class as each of them in this throat-soring, mind-bogging event.
Student Council Externals P.R.O Junelle Dumangon and Internals P.R.O Jayvee Rivera host the event, and together with the Student Council, facilitate the snake movement of shifting seats in a speed-dating game as each freshman gets to talk to a classmate for 30 seconds before meeting another.
Surprise visitor to this event is Dr. Carolina Linda Tapia, Department Head of Preventive and Community Medicine, who congratulates the SC for the successful event before leaving.
After meeting almost every classmate, the freshies' memories are tested in the 'drop the curtain' game wherein the representative from each of the two groups formed is to name the one from the other side
With name tags off, the two teams of the hosts battle it out as Junelle's team leads early at 3-0, then Jayvee's catches up to tie it 3-3. In the end, Junelle's group is victorious in the race to 5 game.
A video was also displayed, featuring students, faculty, staff, and administrators again expresses everyone's desire of welcoming the newest batch of first year students.
The SC then traditionally assisted the freshies to hold their class elections. The results are as follows:
President:
Nicole Marie Manalastas
Vice President:
Miguel Luis Deluria
Secretary :
Sheena Marie Yu
Finance officers:
Cheryl Argent and Lilbert Go
Internals Representative:
Shane Chug
Externals Representative:
Henry Lat and Christian Joe Almazan.
The program closed in a moving message of unity by the head organizer Ralph Benedict Ma-Alat, acknowledging the need for camaraderie despite of the strange environment that the Freshmen have now entered in medical school.
"What you need to survive med school is not your books, not your highlighters, but each other." He said as the crowd cheered in agreement. [x]
