Why did you run, what compelled you to run?
“At first I had hesitations, but people asked me to run (Rai & Cheska and some classmates) since I already have an experience (being an externals PRO during undergrad) then sinabi ko pag-iisipan ko kasi academics is priority ko din. Initially po I was asked to run for treasurer, and then PRO kasi familiar na ako sa work and gusto ko naman siguro.”
“Actually, gusto ko na ayaw ko, pero gusto ko rin talaga mag-run for SC kasi maganda din yung experience ko last year.
What do you think is the most pressing problem that the student council needs to address next year?
“Right now, honestly wala akong makitang problems sa SC. Siguro pag meron pong ibang minor like facilities. Actually nilagay ko sya (feedback), yung microscope slides, some need replacing. And generally maganda naman.”
What are the concrete measures and projects you will make that will define your term of office?
“I proposed three projects. First is the projects for incoming freshmen, next is the grievance committee since napansin ko na wala pa tayong committee dun and I think It will define my term, and third is the hose projects kasi napansin ko na kulang…pero hindi sya name-maintain..on the second half of the school year.”
Being a leader takes its toll on people. You may have to sacrifice part of your academics. Are you ready to face that? Despite of the scholarship? How exactly?
“I’m ready…to face being a leader and also continuing my academic performance na maayos. I am going to sacrifice some time. Siguro sobrang little time lang ang kukunin ko from academics, siguro lessen personal time and social time. Pero yung academics is my top priority pa rin. I’m going to be a leader, I’m going to be in my best. But I’m still going for a good academic performance.. Tingin ko kaya ko naman..”

How can you perform the duties and responsibilities of the position you are applying for? Can you describe concrete ways?
1) “Sinabi ko sa friends na tatakbo ako for SC and I said na mauubos yung sleeping time ko. Noon, after class I sleep…Since mags-SC na ako, really large time for sleep ang mawawala.”
2) “Siguro I will be more outgoing. Being an Internals PRO requires info(rmation) dissemination. I must be, ‘di lang kilala lang, be familiar with other students especially the incoming first year. Kailangang ipakita na welcoming yung SLCM community”
3) I’m going to be more attentive and updated kasi kailangan yung info(rmation) ay always updated and accurate.
Can you give specific projects under the 3 areas that you mentioned on your platforms? Or elaborate some of them better?
Projects for the incoming first year students
“Kinausap ko po si Kuya Jayvee [Rivera, outgoing Internals PRO] kung ano yung mga projects na prinopose for the first years. Siguro po for now I’m planning to continue the annual projects, and probably if magkaroon ng ideas, I am going to propose more projects, ‘di lang po siguro for the incoming first years but also for the whole SLCM community para magkaroon ng acquaintance between 3 year levels and hopefully clerks and interns.”
House projects
“Siguro po mga, like kasi magandang house project yung may mga kumakanta (Sing off) projects that involve teamwork ng houses but wala pa pong specific.”
More dynamic and effective grievance system
First po, napansin ko na yung committees natin, walang grievance system. Nung undergrad namin mayroon kaming specific committee for that, so why not dito rin? Maganda kung organized para lahat ng issues and concerns maa-address ng committee na yun. It’s better if the grievance committee will gather the complaints and give protection to the students who are giving their concerns.

I know you are aware that the admin also does feedback at the end of the sem(ester) and (school)year. Do you think that is not enough yet?
“It’s enough po siguro if we’re talking about school-related (concerns).”
What are the possible aspects of being a Lukan that this grievance committee would cater?
“Initially, what I have in mind is between the students and admin(istrators). If may ma-bring up na issue or complaint that needs immediate attention, the committee will help the student to reach for the admin.”
What is the most effective way of reaching the Lukans? Via SMS or SNS?
“Text (message), because not everyone has internet that is available.”
As the internals PRO, do you have concrete programs in mind that will promote or help cultivate the Lukan culture of excellence?
“A project that involves the alumni, like awards for outstanding Lukan alumni. Maybe we can invite them and (they can) give talks na pwedeng magbigay ng inspiration sa mga students for academic excellence.”
Why would we trust you as the internals PRO for SY 2015-2016?
I can’t say that you should trust or (that) you can trust me since first year pa lang ako and ‘di ako active. Second years, ‘di rin siguro ako kilala. I cannot have their trust agad. I have to build myself first. I still have no established name. Siguro, if I will be the internals PRO, I will do my best to earn their trust and do my best and follow Kuya Jayvee’s footsteps.
Can you confidently say that you can do the duties and responsibilities of being the Internals PRO?
“Yes!”
