Light of Love Events Place was indeed a place of lights as attendees of the annual Christmas party of the SLCM community were welcomed by breathtaking lights hanging among trees in the venue’s entrance, last December 19, 2014.
At the venue proper, attendees flocked the registration area manned by the freshmen, the traditional hosts of the school’s annual Christmas party, while others waited for their turns in the photo booth installed nearby. Both formal and cocktail tables were spread out across the venue with gold star balloons dangling over the entire place.

The Attendees
The program was far from starting and yet the venue was a full house of students, faculty and staff, not in their usual uniforms and coats but dressed up in their movie-inspired best costumes. This was the first time that the yearly event will be a costume party wherein there is a different theme for each batch.
Batch 2019 released their inner children by wearing costumes inspired by cartoons and animation movies. Batch 2018 looked chic and classic in their attires inspired by period pieces from varying decades, while Batch 2017 appeared magical and mysterious with their fantasy movies-inspired costumes.
Meanwhile, the clerks, interns, faculty and staff came in their superheroes and supervillains outfits. The Pediatric department came in all dressed as Catwoman. Doctor Valencia of the Cardiology department also arrived in the event as Superman. Some Basic Science faculty also graced the party including Doctor Carolina Tapia who was portraying Trinity of The Matrix that night wearing black leather jacket, and shades.
The party was officially opened by hosts first year CJ Almazan portraying the brilliant Detective Conan, second year Junelle Dumangon, who came as Dracula and third year Ann Rodriguez dressed up as the fiery Phoenix from X-Men.
In attendance was Dean Brigido Carandang in his black mask and cape who gave an opening remark in character as Batman.
Symbolic Gift Giving
Another first in this event was the symbolic gift giving, where there is an exchange of gifts between batches and the admin.
Batch 2017 represented by their batch president Carlo Castillo, who was dressed up as a tribute of the famous adventure-fantasy movie The Hunger Games, gave Batch 2018 a ream of bond paper as a form of advice to stay solid and to expect more papers when they reach third year.
Batch 2019 received a cup with a quotation “not everyone who wanders is lost” from Batch 2018 headed by batch president Michael Fong that second year is way different from first year and it’s up to them whether they will study for grades or for other people.
Led by batch president Nics Manalastas who was portraying the Frozen icy princess Elsa for the night, Batch 2018 gave the SLCM admin a wireless microphone with intent of reaching out and developing good communication with them.
Representing the admin was Doctor Joanne de Ramos who came in the event as the Kick-Ass superhero Hit-girl in her convincing short purple hair and black mask. In behalf of the admin and faculty, doc mentioned that they would like to give and share to all batches their learnings as doctors.

Batch Presentation
The most looked forward part of the program, the batch presentation, then followed where each batch showcased their talents in singing, dancing and even acting using their movie genre as theme for their presentations.
The first years opened the competition with the display of adorable minions from the hit animation movie Despicable Me, with Gru and the supervillain El Macho. A serenade by some Disney princesses like Belle, Mulan, and Ariel then followed singing their movie theme songs.
Second years left the audience feeling nostalgic as they perform a mixture of song and dance numbers using celebrated theme songs from some period movies like The Sound of Music, Titanic, Dream Girls, Hairspray, and Footloose.
Third years finished the competition with a speech choir where the entire batch recited in unison the adventures and battle of Harry, Ron, and Hermione; Katniss’s sacrifice for her sister and her story with Peeta; and the journey of Frodo and the ring.
Dinner was then served where diners were serenaded by some members of the Musician’s Circle.
There were also performances by the Chorale and the SLDC who recently participated in Med Groove and Med Rhythmia.
Modeling
A parade of beauty and style followed as first years Audrey Prieto and Julienne Yarra, second years Katrina Tinoco and Adrian Reyes, and third years Zabrina Cua and Liandro Dolojan, Mr. and Ms. Lukan 2014 candidates, modeled in the catwalk to represent the best costumes of each batches.
Game faculty members, whose costumes are early favorites of the night, also joined the parade when Doc Marissa Roxas, Doc Chari de Silva, Doc Carolina Tapia and Doc Hernandez set foot on the stage and modeled their outfits.
