As future movers in the medical field, we pledge to attain the highest standards of service in providing care and enriching lives. We pledge to put the welfare of our patients first more than any achievement or worldly gain; to practice compassion and excellence as early as now so that when we “get out there,” we are ready to serve.
We pledge to not only help ourselves but bring others to the top with us, using our strengths, even in the least of ways. We pledge to be an inspiration to others because we never know how much we can influence others with our words and actions. We pledge to never tire of acquiring knowledge and have the willingness to teach what we have learned. We pledge to not be afraid of making mistakes and acknowledging our limitations as long as we learn from them.
We pledge to use our differences, not to compare ourselves with each other but to use these as opportunities to see from another perspective and as means to do more. We pledge to know our place in the healthcare system, that we will always need others’ help because there is still so much that we do not know. We pledge to always treat each other with respect and acceptance; to tread on this life-long journey with humility, that no matter how far we go, we will always remember that it does not matter how big or small our contribution is, as long as we always choose to act for the best.
We pledge to remember our purpose in times of struggles and difficulties; that our sacrifices are worth all the effort and that these obstacles are part of our journey in becoming compassionate and competent physicians.
We pledge to always enjoy what we do, remembering that work done with love becomes passion. We pledge to not forget that there is more to life than being a medical student, and that despite the struggles in managing our time and responsibilites, we will not forget that we have families, mentors to be thankful for, and a God who loves us unconditionally, and that they have contributed much in our journey.
